School Vision
Courageous learners,
Caring people.
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
It is hard to believe we are already at the end of Week 3, Term 2. We started the term with our ANZAC Service, which was once again well supported by our parents and wider community. We would like to thank Mrs Chester and the student leaders for their planning and presentation of such a lovely and respectful service.
QTS Lead School: We are very proud and excited to have been recognised as an outstanding school within the Department of Education, being selected as one of only 25 schools in the state to become a QTS (Quality Teacher Strategy) Lead School. These 25 schools are spread across the state ranging from Primary, Secondary and Education Support schools. As a Lead School, we will provide models of teaching excellence for others to observe and will be supporting other schools in their school improvement journey. We would like to extend our congratuations to our Cluster High School, Ashdale Secondary College which was also selected to be a QTS Lead School, highlighting the strength of our Cluster.
Chaplain: We welcome Leon Durrant to Madeley Primary School. Leon will be our relief Chaplain for Term 2, before we are appointemnt a permanent Chaplain for the beginning in Term 3. Leon is an experienced CHaplian with over 20 years working in schools surrporting students and staff. Leon will be at MPS every Wednesday and even week Friday’s.
Money: I would like to remind parents that children should only be bringing money to school for canteen purchases, or for fundraising ventures within the school which will be advertised through the school newsletter and SeeSaw notices.
Loom Bands: Students have recently been bringing loom bands to school for use during recess and lunch breaks. Can we please ask that these remain at home to reduce issues during break times.
Parking: Our students’ safety is our primary concern. Therefore, safe and legal parking around our school continues to be an ongoing concern. We kindly remind all parents to do the right thing by driving and parking safely and legally around our school. Kiss-and-Drive bays are not for parking and should be vacated as quickly as possible to maintain the flow of traffic. However, they can be parked in between 9:30am – 2:20pm. Parking in the driveway of the Pre-Primary car park and on pathways is illegal and parking on the grassed areas surrounding parking areas is also not permitted as it results in safety concerns. Please be patient and wait until a car bay becomes available. Patience, kindness and respect are all virtues we need to model when driving and parking around our school. We thank you for your consideration.
Students Arriving Late: Any students arriving late after the siren at 8.35 must report to the office so they can be checked off as present. If this is not done parents will receive an SMS informing them of their child’s absence.
Uniforms: As the days are getting colder and our students begin wearing warmer clothing, we would like to remind families that winter jackets need to be either the Madeley navy fleece jacket or a plain navy jacket, free of any labels or logos. Plain navy blue leggings or track pants can be worn on the bottom. The Madeley Primary School uniform can be purchased from Wanneroo Uniforms. Further details of our dress code and uniform shop hours can be found on our website.
School Times: We ask that students are not left at the school before 8am as adequate supervision cannot be provided. Please enrol students before 8am at Camp Australia. Students who arrive early are required to wait outside the Principal’s office until they are released to their classes at 8:20am, even if their parents are with them. When students arrive after the 8:35am bell must attend the office to sign in.
Kind regards,
Lainie Beccegato

Madeley Primary School 2023 Anzac Ceremony
Our Anzac service was held on Monday 24th April to commemorate 108 years since the Gallipoli campaign. The ceremony was proudly led by our confident group of Year 6 leaders.
This year we were fortunate to have Squadron Leader Jarrod Smith from the Royal Australian Air Force as our guest speaker. During the ceremony the school wreath was placed at the flagpole along with a purple poppy wreath that was placed by two student leaders to acknowledge all the animals for their service to our country. Following the flag procession student leaders released ten beautiful white doves into the sky as a symbol of hope and peace for the future.

Performing Arts
Call for Puppets, Props and Costumes
Hello! It’s time! I’m ready to ask the school community for any donations of stage properties (props) or costumes to the Performing Arts department we have here at Madeley. Gah! I’ve bought large tubs. I’m prepared. However, there are some guidelines for you if you feel so inclined to give. Preferably you will just walk through your house or garage and grab any unwanted nick-nacks or Chrissy presents from your secretary, articles of clothing or accessories, or even pieces of material.
For props, I am basically looking for any object from a hairbrush to a garden gnome. Literally could be anything.
For costumes, I am mostly looking for articles of clothing or accessories. Hats, glasses, wigs, gloves, boots, shoes, ties, scarves, pants, tops, dresses, etc. I will look at Halloween costumes, but might not be interested, especially if it covers the face.
These are for games/activities in the classroom mostly, and not a specific production, but may be used that way in the future.
Again, this is a DONATION. It needs to be unwanted items you are happy to part with. It’s not a loan. If you have a drama trunk at your place, and your kids still love playing dress up, no need to dip into that supply. I’m guessing there will be plenty of donations.
Please drop them off at the Performing Arts room with me or simply send them to school with your children. I will be sorting everything, keeping the wanted and taking the unwanted to the Salvos.
Thanks in advance!
Mr. Townsager,
Performing Arts Teacher
Playgroup

It occurs when the bowel is infected by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and sometimes, fever.
Most cases in children are not serious, but it is very important to make sure that a child with gastro receives enough fluid.
If your child has gastro, keep them away from school for 48 hours after vomiting and diarrhoea have stopped. If symptoms persist see your family doctor.
The easiest way to prevent gastro is to make sure everyone in the family washes their hands regularly, especially before eating and after going to the toilet.
