School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to Term 3,
Kindergarten Enrolments
Our Kindy enrolments closed last Friday, however, if you know of anyone that has a child who lives in Madeley that is eligible for Kindy 2020, please ask them to urgently see our front office. We wouldn’t want for anyone to miss out, however, as Kindy is a non-compulsory year we only allow for the enrolments that we are presented with at this time and try not to have spaces as this is too costly for the school.
New Business Plan 2019 – 2021
We are very pleased to share with you all, our new Business Plan for 2019 – 2021 which is coming home with students today. We hope that you can take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to understand our priorities, focus areas and targets for the next three years. As a staff, we have spent countless hours analysing our current and historical assessment data and reviewing current research to ensure we are implementing best practice and continuing to deliver ongoing school improvement. We have set targets that are higher than we are currently achieving and will work industriously to achieve these goals. As we know from research, if we don’t set high expectations, we won’t achieve them. Therefore, we have significantly lifted the targets and are implementing strategies, resourcing and professional learning for staff to facilitate our achievement of these targets.
Good Standing Policy
At the beginning of the year the Education Minister, Honourable Sue Ellery released her Statement on School Violence, entitled “Let’s Take a Stand Together”. This policy stated that ‘Every parent rightly expects that when their child is at school they will be safe, nurtured and supported to learn. Similarly, teachers and school staff should feel safe in their workplace.’ She stated that ‘It is clear that we need to work together to address this issue in a united way. Schools alone cannot solve this problem and they need support from families and communities.’ Let’s Take a Stand Together has 10 actions that clearly outline the processes schools must take in order to maintain orderly learning environments for students. This includes suspension for students who attack other students or start fights. Additionally, Principals are to automatically move to exclude any students who physically attack school staff. One of the actions that all schools were directed to take is to develop a Good Standing Policy.
Good Standing is a status all Madeley primary students are granted at the start of each year. Students with Good Standing are eligible to hold leadership positions within the school. They are eligible to participate in activities such as incursions, excursions, inter-school carnivals and camps. It is the responsibility of each student to maintain their Good Standing. If, however, a child loses their Good Standing status due to, for example, aggression towards teachers or students or repeated inappropriate behaviours, then students will be placed on a Return To Good Standing Program and may miss out on non-curricular excursions or camps. Please note, students lose their Good Standing status for repeated offences or when behaviour is aggressive towards others. For further details, see our Good Standing Policy, which is attached.

Lego Club
In Term 2 it was our goal to provide Madeley students with alternative social activities where they could challenge their creativity, learn new skills and most importantly foster new friendships. We found that all social clubs that were run during recess and lunch time last term, had massive interest from all year levels. From the soccer clinic to dance club, buddy club to Lego club, we saw many students enjoying their time with their friends and trying new things that they may not have considered before. We can say that we did achieve our goal successfully.
It was our privilege to run the Lego Club in Term 2. We gained student’s interest by aligning with the Channel 7 entertainment show- Lego Masters, by running our very own- very first… Madeley Lego Master Competition for 2019. We were pleased to have massive interest in this club. We received many entries into this competition which made it difficult to select a winner from both categories.
With great pleasure we would like to announce the winners of Madeley’s First Lego Masters for 2019.
Girls: Olivia Birsa
Boys: Harvey Cooper
We hope that students continue to attend the various social clubs running at Madeley Primary School as they provide a great opportunity to meet new people and develop new skills.
Cluster Muster Art Exhibition 2019

Cluster Schools include; Landsdale PS, Carnaby Rise PS, Ashdale PS/SC and Madeley PS. Click on Arts Festival ASC Gallery to view art work displayed.

FUN RUN Pre Primary – Year 6
The Student Councillors are organising this year’s school Fun Run. Money raised by the Year 6 classes will go towards their camp while other money will go towards buying resources for the whole school. Fundraising is completely voluntary and all children in PP-6 will be involved in the Fun Run regardless of whether they have raised money or not.
When collecting sponsorship, we strongly recommend that students do not door knock unless they are accompanied by an adult. We prefer that students collect sponsorship from friends and family and not strangers.
As part a school goal setting initiative, we are challenging all students to set a “lap goal”. Students will be asked to consider how many laps they can complete in 30 minutes? Please return the attached sponsorship form and money in an envelope to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday 9th July. All other details are below.
Date of fun run: |

The performance will be held on Tuesday, 6 August from 12pm – 2pm.
Please return the attached permission slip to your child’s classroom teacher.

School Canteen
As a reminder for this term, Sushi can only be ordered on a Friday (online and manual orders).
We have had some changes with teachers and surnames can you please update in Quickcliq (preferred method of ordering).
With regards to manual orders, please ensure the correct classroom and teachers name are both written on the bag as we have had instances of lunches going to the wrong classrooms and very upset children.
I’d just like to say a big thank you to all the students with regards to the lunch basket competition as it has saved us a lot of time with regards to chasing them up. Congratulations to Ms Watson’s class who were the winners at end of Term 2. The competition has started again and it’s great to see the enthusiasm again.
We have fortnightly specials on Wed & Thursday as these are our quieter days and we have time to prepare. Friday’s are our busiest day with well over double the orders so it can be very hectic and doesn’t allow us to prepare specials. In saying this we would appreciate volunteers on a Friday morning 9 – 10 am to help out with food prep ie Cheesies, Sandwiches, cutting Hot Dog rolls and making Pikelets or even washing up dishes. If you are available please come down and see me or email to madeleypscanteen@gmail.com with availability so I can pencil you in.
The preference is to order online, as you will be able to see ‘Specials’ and ‘Meal Deals’ we will have for the week. To Order click on ONLINE CANTEEN link:
