School Vision
Courageous learners,
Caring people.
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
It is hard to believe we are already in Week 6, Term 2. Students and teachers are all very busy completing units of work and undertaking assessments prior to our reporting period.
Kindy 2024 Enrolments
Kindy 2024 enrolments close on Friday 21 July, which is the end of week 1 next term. If you know of anyone whose child is born between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, please let them know that enrolments close soon. As Kindergarten is a non-compulsory year at school, we make plans for how classes are structured based on the number of students enrolled as of the closing date. Sometimes there may still be places available for latecomers however, we don’t always have the space to accommodate them. Therefore, lodging enrolments before the closing date is of paramount importance.
Voluntary Contributions and Charges 2023
A very big thank you to all parents who have paid their contributions and charges. This funding supports the purchase of school resources for all learning areas as well as the library. We will be holding a prize draw for families who have paid their contributions before the end of term, with a $200 gift card being the prize. The draw will be held in Week 10. Winners will be notified by phone.
Uniforms
As the days are getting colder and our students begin wearing warmer clothing, we would like to remind families that winter jackets need to be either the Madeley navy fleece jacket or a plain navy jacket, free of any labels or logos. Plain navy blue leggings or track pants can be worn on the bottom. The Madeley Primary School uniform can be purchased from Wanneroo Uniforms. Further details of our dress code and uniform shop hours can be found on our website.
Lightning Carnival
Students in Year 5 and Year 6 will be participating in a Lightning Carnival on Thursday 15th June 2023 (rescheduled due to the weather forecast). Students rotate through several different sports including AFL, Netball, Hockey and Soccer. They will be competing against students from Ashdale PS, Landsdale PS, Carnaby Rise PS and West Greenwood PS. We wish them all luck.
Students Arriving Late
Any students arriving late after the siren at 8.35 must report to the office so they can be checked off as present. If this is not done parents will receive an SMS informing them of their child’s absence.
Kind regards,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal
Madeley PS

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS COMING!
Dear Parents,
Your school photo day is coming! Approximately two weeks prior to the photo day every student will receive a personalised flyer to bring home from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.
KEEP YOUR FLYER SECURE!
The unique codes contained on the flyer will be issued only once.
Order EARLY for sibling photography
Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.
If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.
The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.
Order EARLY for discount photo day prices
Order your photos within 10 calendar days of photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $30 custom service charge.
Other information
Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.
Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.
All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.
If COVID is still active in WA:
For the duration of Covid-19 in WA, please be aware that Kapture are following all recommended health guidelines and safe practices. Our photographers are acutely aware of the evolving situation surrounding Covid-19 and abide by each individual school's Covid-19 policies. Where possible, the photographers will use verbal queues and instructions in an effort to uphold our high standard of student presentation. Students may be instructed by photographers to use single use sterile combs, wet wipes or tissues or to fix their own collars, buttons and stray hairs.

P&C News
Mothers and Others Stall:
Kind, loving and patient are usually words associated with mums, but at this years Mothers and Others stall, it was the children of Madeley yet again showing those beautiful qualities as they used their best manners selecting gifts for their mothers and mother figures. It was incredible to see just how much the children enjoyed trying to find that perfect little something to show their love, and we hope that it helped make the day just that little extra special for you all.

National Walk to School Day:
We celebrated National Walk to School Day in style this year with almost 75% of our students getting to class on foot that day.
The breakfast was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed by all, bacon and eggs were a hit, not to mention the yoghurt cups, pikelets, fruit toast and muffins and that feedback came from some very satisfied parents doing the walk too...
We are so lucky to have such a beautiful area and community in and around our school, so we will be working on ways we can try and make this a more common and often experience for our school in collaboration with the local council. We thank everyone who again helped us celebrate this day, we thank you for your support and your participation. The event could also only be possible with the support from our local council City of Wanneroo for their kind donations to make the walk a little more delicious and healthy

Next P&C Meeting:
Next Wednesday 7th June at 7.30pm, we welcome anyone who would like to come along to our next P&C meeting. Each meeting we are having new faces and new ideas being brought to the table to discuss all topics from what we can do differently to become an even stronger school community and help support the teaching staff and even hear directly from our wonderful principal on what’s coming up next for all children. There are so many ways to be involved with our P&C, but nothing quite compares to our meetings, when it comes to having a wonderful evening with some of the most incredible people we have in our community. This really is a place where it doesn’t matter if it’s your first meeting or your twentieth meeting, you will always feel welcomed, heard and appreciated for giving your time to help build a community that we are all proud of. We hope you join us next week

Building Your Child's Self Esteem
Good self-esteem helps children and young people to try new things, take healthy risks and solve problems. Positive self-esteem provides children with a solid foundation for their learning and development and enables them to feel good about themselves. Parents can help build the self-esteem of their children by frequently doing the following with them:
- Say “I love you”
- Develop and maintain special daily rituals
- Let your children help you
- Let your child make mistakes and solve some of their own problems
- Praise children for trying
- Show an interest in the sports or hobbies they are interested in
- Eat meals as a family
- Seek out one-on-one opportunities often
- Praise desirable behaviour (praise should be genuine and specific)
- Correct negative behaviour firmly but lovingly
- Respect their choices
- Celebrate your child’s successes - big and small
- Make your children a priority in your life.
