School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
It is hard to believe we are already in Week 6, Term 2. The last few weeks have been very busy for our year 3 and 5 students with NAPLAN occurring over a three week period. This was extended by a week this year due to the high number of COVID cases in WA. This allowed all our students to complete the four tests.
Uniforms
As the days are getting colder and our students begin wearing warmer clothing, we would like to remind families that winter jackets need to be either the Madeley navy fleece jacket or a plain navy jacket, free of any labels or logos. Plain navy blue leggings or track pants can be worn on the bottom. The Madeley Primary School uniform can be purchased from Wanneroo Uniforms. Further details of our dress code and uniform shop hours can be found on our website.
National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
Year 3 and Year 5 students completed their NAPLAN testing last week. We were extremely proud of our students and impressed with how everyone tried their best. Results from these assessments will be available to parents and schools later in the year.
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will commence next week and will run until 17th June. Please ensure your child/children have all items labelled with their name so they can be returned when they have been misplaced.
Lightning Carnival
Students in Year 5 and Year 6 have participated in a Lightning Carnival today. Students rotated through a number of different sports competing against each other.
NAIDOC Week
As part of our NAIDOC celebrations in Week 10, all classes will be participating in a variety of activities focusing on our First Nations people and culture.
Students Arriving Late
Any students arriving late after the siren at 8.35 must report to the office so they can be checked off as present. If this is not done parents will receive an SMS informing them of their child’s absence.
Have a wonderful long weekend,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS COMING!
Dear Parents,
Your school photo day is coming! Approximately two weeks prior to the photo day every student will receive a personalised flyer to bring home from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.
KEEP YOUR FLYER
SECURE!
The unique codes contained on the
flyer will be issued only once.
Order EARLY for sibling photography
Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.
If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.
The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.
Order EARLY for discount photo day prices
Order your photos within 10 calendar days of photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $30 custom service charge.
Other information
Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.
Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.
All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.
For the duration of Covid-19 in WA, please be aware that Kapture are following all recommended health guidelines and safe practices. Our photographers are acutely aware of the evolving situation surrounding Covid-19 and abide by each individual school's Covid-19 policies. Where possible, the photographers will use verbal queues and instructions in an effort to uphold our high standard of student presentation. Students may be instructed by photographers to use single use sterile combs, wet wipes or tissues or to fix their own collars, buttons and stray hairs.
Student Reports
As Student Reports are emailed out to parents, please ensure that all contact details and email addresses are up to date at the school office. Reports will be emailed home on Monday 27 June 2022.
2023 Kindergarten Enrolments
Expression of Interest Applications can now be made for children born between 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019. You can download an Expression of Interest (EOI) from our website. When lodging the EOI, a copy of the child's birth certificate, current immunisation records and proof of address (copy of utilities bill) are required. COVID Update
If your child becomes an asymptomatic close contact due to a person in your household being COVID-19 positive, they no longer need to isolate for 7 days.
They will be required to:
- Do a daily Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and receive a negative result each day to attend school.
- Wear a mask at school (for students in Year 7 and above) and when travelling on public transport or ride-share.
If your child becomes symptomatic, they should stay home and be tested for COVID19.
Refer to healthywa.wa.gov.au for information on testing and isolation requirements.
If your child becomes symptomatic or COVID positive, please notify the school through our online absentee reporting form on our website at: Madeley Primary School or SMS 0437 419 118 including the date they tested positive.
If you prefer your child to continue to wear a mask, we encourage them to do so.
Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our school COVID-19 safe.

Fundraising
We are excited to announce that the following totals were raised from our recent fundraising efforts…
Democracy Sausage Sizzle and Bake Sale - $4589.30
A huge thank you to our brilliant P&C executive team, P&C members and even more volunteers who helped make the Election Day a massive success.
We had a lovely cash donation towards the purchase of BBQ items from Kenny Yu, stock/food donations from SUPA IGA Darch, discounted eggs from Ron and Lisa at Eggs R Us and a cash donation from the coffee van sales, Sunday Club Coffee.
Our amazing baking team cooked up a storm with 100% profits from the purchase of baked goods going straight to the P&C!

We have been able to approve and fully fund several staff submissions:
- Funding for a revamp of the undercover area AV system
- Funding for the purchase of an Aboriginal Education package
- Funding for resources to support small literacy groups
- Funding to update and replenish construction materials for Pre-Primary
We look forward to supporting the purchase of more resources and equipment for our students with the funds raised by the P&C!
Thank you!
We put a call out for volunteers to assist with the distribution of free RAT tests to parents and guardians of Madeley Primary School students and so many lovely families were able to give their time to help. We have been thrilled with the high number of new volunteers that have come forward to help with small or larger jobs around the school!!
Next P&C Meeting
Please come along to our next meeting on Wednesday 15th June in the Madeley Primary School staffroom from 7:30pm.
Containers for Change
Please use the P&C scheme ID when you take your eligible containers to the recycling depo or bag drop facility!

P&C Canteen
We have been busy introducing new healthier and yummy Canteen options for our kids.
New Sweet and Savoury Muffin flavours, Waffles, Noodles, Fried Rice, Lasagne, Homemade Burgers and Cottage Pie made with fresh ingredients in the Canteen have been added to the QkR! menu. Keep a look out on the Madeley P&C Facebook page for more options to come. Feedback so far has been good, so get your orders in on QkR! Sushi Mondays have still been going strong and we have also purchased a bigger freezer to stock more Froyo flavours. We will also be trialling some WASCA approved Peter’s Billabong ice-creams in the coming weeks.
Thank you for all your support with ordering at the Canteen. Recess items are available online and over the counter at break one and break two. We have been experiencing our busiest days ever while implementing these new menu items and would like to thank Kelli Licari, Sheree Madafferi, Maranne Young-Evans, Monique Forde and Claire Ferguson for helping with our meal preparations on Mondays in Term 2. We would appreciate more volunteers to help on a Monday from 11:40am until 2pm for Term 3, or for an hour after school drop-off on Thursdays and Fridays to assist with the pikelets and waffles. Grandparents are welcome too. If you have time to help us out while we make these changes, please email us at madeleypandc@gmail.com.
Keep an eye out on QkR! as the canteen is having our traditional last day of term Sausage Sizzle on Friday 1 July! The Canteen is hoping to have more theme days, please email us at madeleypandc@gmail.com with any theme day ideas.

School Nurse
A Note From The School Health Nurse (Madeley Primary school)
My name is Caroline Turich and I am the School Health Nurse who visits your school.
School Health Nurses work in schools to promote healthy development and wellbeing so students may reach their full potential. A major part of my work is focused on early intervention and the School Entry Health Assessment program. Additionally, the nurse can be contacted at any time throughout primary school if you have concerns about your child’s health, development, or wellbeing.
School Health Nurses serve as a health contact point for children and their families, providing information, assessment, health counselling and referral. They also work in partnership with schools to support teachers in health-related curriculum and can assist in the development of health care plans for students with complex and chronic health needs.
