School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers
We are delighted to have been able to resume parent helpers in classes as most activities return to normal at this time. I would like to thank all of the parents and carers for their ongoing support in this ever changing COVID landscape. We really appreciate the school community’s teamwork in assisting us to keep our school and extended community as safe as possible.
School Board Chairperson
I would like to extend congratulations to Mr Matthew White for his election as School Board Chair at Madeley PS. We look forward to his leadership of the School Board.
P & C President
Congratulations to Mr Joe Madafferi for his election as P & C President for 2022. Joe has already been working hard with the P & C on some fantastic plans for the canteen and fundraising for this year.
COVID Management
We ask for your support by not sending children to school who are sick, whether COVID positive or not, especially as we head into cold and flu season. Additionally, we remind parents that the play equipment is not able to be used before or after school as we still must adhere to COVID play equipment cleaning regimes to minimise risk. Siblings playing on the equipment potentially introduces additional transmission risk for our students.
As we continue to see COVID19 in our school, we remind you to monitor your child for them if they are experiencing any of the following;
- a fever of more than 37.5°C,
- acute respiratory symptoms (including cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, acute loss of smell or taste) or
- non-specific symptoms (including fatigue, headache, diarrhoea or nausea/vomiting).
Anyone with symptoms should be tested for COVID-19 and if negative, stay home until symptoms clear.
Parents are still required to report if their child tests positive to COVID-19. This is through our online absentee form on our website. Please keep them home for the duration of their isolation period. Children can return to school after their isolation period is completed and only if they no longer have symptoms.
Close contacts of a COVID positive case are now permitted to attend school if they obtain a negative RAT each day and are asymptomatic. If close contacts are Yr 3 or above, although it is not a requirement, we recommend that for the following 7 days, close contacts wear a mask for the safety of the other staff and students.
National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
NAPLAN testing began for Year 3 and Year 5 this week and continues next week also. The NAPLAN testing is online except for the Year 3 Writing Assessment. The national testing order is as follows:
- Writing (Yr 3 by hand, Yr 5 online),
- Reading
- Language Conventions (these are separate assessments), and
- Numeracy.
In these challenging times, we will do our best to catch up any students who may miss their assessments during the set testing period.
Dress Code Policy
A reminder that all students are required to wear their school uniform at all times. Clothing with advertising or branding on it does not adhere to the dress code. Uniforms can be purchased through Wanneroo Uniforms. Please refer to our website for the Dress Code Policy developed and endorsed by the School Board.
Voluntary Contributions and Charges 2022
A very big thank you to all parents who have paid their contributions and charges. This funding supports the purchase of school resources for all learning areas as well as the library. We had a prize draw for families who paid their contributions before the end of last term. Congratulations to the Weston family who won the $200 Woolworths gift card.
