School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers
I can’t believe we at the end of Term 1. The students have been working really hard this term and I’m sure we are all looking forward to a lovely Easter holiday break.
Arya Dayabhai, Our Sustainability Activist
Since 2019, Arya Dayabhai, one of our current Year 6 students has been campaigning the school and P & C for solar panels. As an election promise, Margaret Quirk MLA, had committed $32 000 to the school to support this endeavour. On Wednesday night at our P & C meeting, Arya presented a submission to the P & C appealing for funds to also support the achievement of this goal. He cited the sustainability and economic benefits for solar panels at the school. The P & C unanimously voted to contribute $8000 to this project. The school will fund the remaining costs. Arya has shown leadership beyond his years and a passion for contributing significantly towards a sustainable future for everyone. On behalf of the school, we would like to thank Arya for his passion and energy towards positive change. We are very proud of his efforts to be a sustainability activist!
ANZAC Service
Our school will be hosting our ANZAC Service on Friday 23rd April at 8:45am. I would like to extend a warm welcome parents to join us for the special event. Thank you to Mrs Dawn Chester for all of the time and effort she puts into the organisation of such a beautiful ceremony.
Public School Review
At the end of last year, our school undertook a Public School Review whereby a review team came to our school to validate our thorough school self-assessment in key areas. The 6 key areas are; Student Achievement and Progress, Teaching Quality, Learning Environment, Leadership, Relationships and Partnerships and Use of Resources. We articulated where we are at, provided evidence to demonstrate our achievements and progress and outlined our future directions to improve outcomes for students. The reviewers met with groups of students, staff, parents, cluster principals, cluster staff and a representative from ECU to confirm our achievements as a school.
The reviewers stated that they were very impressed with our school directions. Our report stated recommendations that we had outlined we would like to continue to do. No new recommendations were made by the review team. Thank you to all parents who have read our Public School Review Report. If you haven’t read it yet, I would encourage you to do so. It is available at:
https://madeleyps.schoolzineplus.com/_file/media/661/madeley_primary_school_public_school_review_report_december_2020_2_.pdf
I would like to thank all students, staff, P & C and School Board members involved in our School Review. It was a fabulous day showing off what we do, and what we are so proud of, at Madeley.
Annual Report
Our school’s Annual Report for 2020 is available on our website. This was endorsed by the School Board on Wednesday night. The Annual Report outlines the achievements and progress of the school throughout 2020. Ordinarily, NAPLAN data would be contained within the report however, due to COVID there was no NAPLAN conducted in 2020. We hope you enjoy reading the celebrations we had in 2020 and our achievement towards our Business Plan targets.
Voluntary Contributions and Charges 2021
A friendly reminder to parents, we have an incentive prize for all families who pay their contributions by the end of this term. They will enter the draw to win a $200 Woolworths gift card. I would like to acknowledge and thank all families who have already paid their fees for this year.
School Board
We have had a nomination by Christine Ashkenazy to join the School Board for 2021. I would like to welcome Christine to the School Board for the three-year tenure. I would like to thank our outgoing board member, Aimee Ingram, for her time and contributions to the School Board over the last three years. She has been such an asset to our board.
Farewell to our Chaplain
We would like to farewell our Chaplain, Stephanie Hund who is leaving after the first week next term. Stephanie has been such an asset to our school in supporting the wellbeing of our students. We have really appreciated Stephanie’s dedication and expertise when working with the students of Madeley PS.
Have a wonderful Easter and holiday break,
Lainie Beccegato

Year 6 Fundraiser- Free Dress Day
This term, we are having a free dress day which will be held on Thursday 1st of April, which is the last day of this term. So come to school in your free dress clothes but please remember to pay a gold coin donation! The donation can either be paid to the classroom teacher on the day or paid via the Qkr app. The money raised will go towards the Year Six Graduation.
We encourage payments via the Qkr! app – this is a very simple and quick process and it alleviates the need for busy parents to come into the office or send money in with students.

You are an important role model for your child. Your child will watch what you eat, how much you exercise, how much screen-time you use and how you look after yourself.
Children who grow up in families that enjoy a healthy lifestyle are more likely to make their own healthy choices as they get older.
