School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Good afternoon parents and carers,
Term 3 has been rushing by with this being the conclusion of Week 6 already.
We held our Book Week Parade today which was a wonderful display of many fun and imaginative costumes, representing the myriad of the students’ favourite books. It was another fabulous event. The Book Fair was a huge success with the school raising $2,274 towards the purchase of library books. I would like to express my thank you to Mrs Maree Jones our Library Officer and Mrs AnnMaree Miller for their amazing organisation of the Book Fair.
Next week, we celebrate Science Week. The theme for this year is Food: Different by Design. The students will be hands on with lots of wonderful science experiments on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon next week. It should be a fun and informative week.
Faction Carnival
Our Faction Carnival on Monday was a great success. Congratulations to Storm faction on their win for 2021. I would like to thank all of our students for having so much fun and the ‘Madeley Way’ of showing respectful behaviour on the day. Additionally, thank you to the staff for their hard work in making it an incredibly successful day. Also, I would like to extend my gratitude to Mr Jarred Moon for his efforts, hard work and flawless organisation of the day. Lastly, I would like to thank the parents for their attendance on the day in support of the students.
Open Night
Madeley PS staff would like to invite all parents to our annual Open Night. This is such a positive experience for teachers, parents and students. The event will take place on Wednesday, 22nd September from 4:30pm – 6:30pm in each child’s classroom and specialist areas at pre-booked timeslots as we did last year.
Numbers will be limited to 7 families in each classroom at any one time. The AAA will be able to accommodate more families. We have divided the evening into six 20min timeslots for regular classrooms that parents can sign up to beforehand. Specialists will have 5 min timeslots to be signed up to.
As we remain in Phase 5 of the State Government’s roadmap, we ask that all adults continue to remain physically distanced at 1.5m from one another. If students or adults are unwell, please stay home. Further information will go out to parents next week on Connect.
COVID
As per State Government directions, we ask that any students or adults who are unwell, please stay home.
A reminder to parents that Madeley PS is still required to regularly clean school play equipment and therefore cannot permit playing on play equipment, before or after school. I ask that you support us in ensuring a safe environment by carefully supervising all pre-school siblings to prevent them from playing also.
Additionally, to safeguard students’ safety at this time, we ask that all students continue to bring a drink bottle to school for water consumption. Drink fountains can only be used to refill drink bottles, not directly drink from, at this time.
Enrolments for 2022
The accuracy of our enrolment information, when planning for next year, is of utmost importance. If your child/ren will not be attending Madeley PS for 2022, we kindly ask that you email our front office at madeley.ps@education.wa.edu.au or phone 9306 6900 as soon as possible to let us know. Additionally, if you know of anyone wishing to join us for 2022, please ask them to contact the front office as soon as possible.
Road Safety
The safety of our beautiful Madeley PS children is of critical important to us all. I ask that parents please take extra caution when travelling around our school at all times. Please drive slowly and beware of students who may not be paying attention.
Additionally, I kindly ask parents to remind their children to wear helmets, riding their bikes on the correct side of the road and to put mobile phones or other distractors away when walking near or on roads.
Parking
Parking on the grass areas around the school grounds is not permitted. Parking is only permitted in marked bays around the school.
Additionally, a reminder to all parents that the staff carpark is not a Kiss and Ride nor for parking. The Kiss and Ride is right outside of the staff carpark on Martindale Ave and it is this location that parents are permitted to drop off students, if dropping at the front of the school. The staff carpark is only permitted for access by staff and other visitors to the school, who are not family members or carers of students.
Gnangara Rd crossing
The P & C are interested in ascertaining if there is enough of a demand to pursue trying to access a crosswalk attendant to assist with crossing over Gnangara Rd. There needs to be a minimum level of demand before the City of Wanneroo would investigate whether or not they could accommodate the request.
Therefore, if you live north of Gnangara Rd and you and your children walk to school each day, could you please call the school office on 9306 6900 at your earliest convenience, to let us know your name, address and children’s names/year levels.
Bushfire Plan
Due to the Bushfire Season beginning in September, schools are required to have a Bushfire Plan. Please find the attached map of the evacuation route of students and the evacuation meeting point where staff and students will meet at, in the unlikely event of a bushfire emergency. We will continue to have evacuation and fire drills in the future to rehearse and refine our processes.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal

You are an important role model for your child. Your child will watch what you eat, how much you exercise, how much screen-time you use and how you look after yourself.
Children who grow up in families that enjoy a healthy lifestyle are more likely to make their own healthy choices as they get older.
