School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy term we are having. We had a very productive School Development Day at the beginning of term with our staff involved in professional development sessions about managing their own stress and mental health, supporting students with anxiety, aboriginal history and cultural understandings as well as engagement in professional dialogue about strategies used to support students with special needs. It was an incredibly productive and valuable day.
Parking
The safety of our students is a top priority. I would like to remind all parents to ensure that they only park in marked parking bays. Please do not park on the school lawn or pathways adjoining the school. This creates a safety hazard to our students and is not permitted.
Toilet Beautification Project
We are working to make Madeley PS an even more attractive place to be. We are embarking on a project to paint the inside of the toilets with the important life raft lessons that form part of our Play is The Way Program and are embedded in ‘The Madeley Way’ expected behaviours. These are:
- Be Brave, participate to progress,
- Pursue your personal best, no matter who is watching,
- Have reasons for the things you say and do,
- It takes great strength to be sensible,
- Be the master, not the victim of your feelings, and
- Our Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like them to treat you.
Each Friday, our very talented Art Specialist, Ms Michelle Horrocks, will be painting the toilet areas with inspiring quotes, the important values we work to embed at the school all enveloped in beautiful art designs. I would like to thank Michelle for her astonishing work, I know this will look amazing.
Events
This term we have an incredible number of events on which will keep us all engaged and having fun. We have our Faction Jumps and Throws, Faction Carnival and One Big Voice in Week 5. We have Book Week in Week 6 consisting of the Book Fair Monday to Thursday, culminating in the Book Parade at 8:45pm on Friday, 27th August. We are celebrating Science Week in Week 7. We have School Photos being undertaken during this week also. Interschool carnivals will be held in Week 9 with Cross Country in Week 10. What an exciting term this is.
Jumps and Throws and Faction Carnival
These events will be held on 17th and 19th August respectively. We will be running the Faction Carnival as we did last year, to reduce the numbers of adults in attendance at any time and create greater spacing between adults. Mr Moon will be sending information out next week with further details.
Open Night
We will be hosting our annual Open Night on Wednesday, 22nd September from 4:30pm – 6:30pm. We will be inviting families into classrooms to undertake a journey of the children’s learning. Sessions will be held in designated timeslots throughout the night to enable us to manage the parent numbers. Further information will be announced later in the term.
Classroom Block Signage
You may have recently noticed the additional signage we have attached under the title of each teaching block. This is the Noongar name for the block. For example, Goomic is the Noongar translation for Lechenaultia. I would like to thank the wonderful Aboriginal Cultural Standards Committee on staff, led by Mrs Ashleigh Beech, who won a grant to have the signage made.
Winter Uniform
In this wintry weather, a reminder to families that winter jackets need to be either the Madeley navy fleece jacket or a plain navy jacket, free of any labels or logos. Plain navy blue leggings or track pants can be worn on the bottom. The Madeley Primary School uniform can be purchased from Wanneroo Uniforms. Further details of our dress code are on our website.
Gnangara Rd Crossing
The P & C are interested in ascertaining if there is enough of a demand to pursue trying to access a crosswalk attendant to assist with crossing over Gnangara Rd. There needs to be a minimum level of demand before the City of Wanneroo would investigate whether or not they could accommodate the request.
Therefore, if you live north of Gnangara Rd and you and your children walk to school each day, could you please call the school office on 9306 6900 at your earliest convenience, to let us know your name, address and children’s names/year levels.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal

School Photos
School photo day is coming! Approximately two weeks prior to the photo day every student will receive a personalised flyer to bring home from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.
KEEP YOUR FLYER SECURE!
The unique codes contained on the flyer will be issued only once.
Order EARLY for sibling photography
Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.
If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.
The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.
Order EARLY for discount photo day prices
Order your photos within 10 calendar days of photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $20 custom service charge.

Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.
If COVID is still active in WA:
For the duration of Covid-19 in WA, please be aware that Kapture are following all recommended health guidelines and safe practices. Our photographers are acutely aware of the evolving situation surrounding Covid-19 and abide by each individual school's Covid-19 policies. Where possible, the photographers will use verbal queues and instructions in an effort to uphold our high standard of student presentation. Students may be instructed by photographers to use single use sterile combs, wet wipes or tissues or to fix their own collars, buttons and stray hairs.

You are an important role model for your child. Your child will watch what you eat, how much you exercise, how much screen-time you use and how you look after yourself.
Children who grow up in families that enjoy a healthy lifestyle are more likely to make their own healthy choices as they get older.
