School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear parents and carers,
It is hard to believe we are already in Week 6, Term 2. The last few weeks have been very busy for our students with swimming lessons and NAPLAN occurring.
Uniforms
As the days are getting colder and our students begin wearing warmer clothing, we would like to remind families that winter jackets need to be either the Madeley navy fleece jacket or a plain navy jacket, free of any labels or logos. Plain navy blue leggings or track pants can be worn on the bottom. The Madeley Primary School uniform can be purchased from Wanneroo Uniforms. Further details of our dress code and uniform shop hours can be found on our website.
National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
Year 3 and Year 5 students completed their NAPLAN testing last week. We were extremely proud of our students and impressed with how everyone tried their best. Results from these assessments will be available to parents and schools later in the year.
Swimming Lessons
Most year levels completed their swimming lessons last week. It was a delight to see our students so well behaved, both on the bus and during their lessons. Students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in swimming lessons over weeks 10 and 11.
Lightning Carnival
Students in Year 5 and Year 6 have been busy preparing for this year’s Lightning Carnival. On Friday afternoon (28/05), Madeley will play a scratch match against East Greenwood. Go Madeley! The Lightning Carnival will be held at Kingsway Reserve on June 8.
NAIDOC Week
As part of our NAIDOC celebrations in Week 10, all classes will attend a performance by the theatre company Yirra Yaakkin. The performance, titled ‘Bilya Kaatijin’ teaches students about the importance of water to First Nations people around the world.
Harmony Week
Later in the term, Madeley will hold activities to celebrate Harmony Week. Throughout this week, students will engage in activities celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity. Activities will focus upon inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all.
Cluster Muster
Cluster Muster will take place at Ashdale Secondary College on June 24. Our Cluster Muster is a showcase of The Arts across our cluster in the areas of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts. Madeley will be represented through our school choir, visual art displays and a Year 6 performance.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal

Interm Swimming PP – Year 6
Due to NAPLAN we have had to split our swimming times over 4 weeks instead of 2 this year.
Swimming lesson times are as follows:
21st June – 2nd July for Yr 3 & Yr 5
Lessons are at Wanneroo Aquamotion and our students will be travelling by bus (with seatbelts) to and from the swimming venue. The cost per student for 10 lessons will be $56. This is comprised of $35.00 pool entry ($3.50 per day, per student) and a cost of $21 for bus travel for the 10 days per student. The actual swimming lessons are FREE. Swimming is part of the curriculum so students are expected to participate and will require a medical certificate if they can’t attend the lessons.
Swimming is part of the curriculum so students are expected to participate and will require a medical certificate if they can’t attend the lessons.
Please complete the Interm Swimming Enrolment Form and return to the class teacher. If you are having difficulty paying by this date, please contact Ms Lingard, Manager Corporate Services at the school on 9306 6900.
We encourage payments via the QKr! app – this is a very simple and quick process and alleviates the need for busy parents to come into the office or send money in with students. Instructions on how to download the app are available in Connect library or alternatively google QKr! and download app.

P&C Newsletter Contribution May 2021
The cold weather has not slowed down the P&C Fundraising Subcommittee which is making final preparations for a range of exciting events. Soon we will be announcing details about a parents’ event during the July school holidays, a family drive-in movie, and a mums’ high tea. If you are a local business owner who would like to donate a prize to one of our events, we would love to hear from you. It’s a great way to promote your business while helping us raise funds for the school community. Contact us through our Facebook page or email madeleypandc@gmail.com.
Our Entertainment Membership fundraiser is up-and-running. If you would like to take advantage of offers on dining, shopping, hotels and activities make sure to purchase a Membership through us by following the link on our Facebook page.
Our next meeting is scheduled for 9 June 2021. We hope to see you there.
P&C Pretzel Day
Wow! Pretzel Day was a huge success with 70% of students ordering a meal deal on Wednesday, 26th May. Thank you to all the students and teachers who ordered, we hope you enjoyed it.

Keep an eye out on the P&C Facebook Page and Quickcliq for upcoming weekly/monthly Meal Deals online. The June Fun Food Day will be announced shortly.
Great News! Students are now permitted to purchase ice poles and slushies at lunch, after they have eaten their lunch and after the 10 minute siren.
You may have noticed on Quickcliq that we have removed the option to place orders for recess. Students were not collecting their orders so we have decided to place a token in their lunch bag so they can collect their order at either lunch or recess (e.g. ice poles, slushies, and apple slinkies). Please tell your child to keep an eye out for the token in their lunch bag. We don’t like being the bad guys who tell your child they cannot have their order if they do not have their token. Thank you.
It’s getting chilly. Hot Chocolates are available to purchase over the counter at lunch and recess for $2.00.
We welcome your feedback, suggestions and ideas.
Did you know that the Madeley P&C has a Facebook group?

You are an important role model for your child. Your child will watch what you eat, how much you exercise, how much screen-time you use and how you look after yourself.
Children who grow up in families that enjoy a healthy lifestyle are more likely to make their own healthy choices as they get older.
