School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear Parents and carers
Welcome to Term 3.
Our School Development Day was a great success last week with the staff involved in professional learning based on the Aboriginal Cultural Standards, reading comprehension, behaviour management and professional learning communities. I applaud the professionalism and commitment of this staff on this day.
Due to the latest health advice, Premier Mark McGowan has extended phase 4 restrictions at this time. The new tentative date for Phase 5 is 15 August. A final decision on whether this progresses will be decided in coming weeks. Parents/carers and visitors may access school sites to attend meetings and for drop off and pick up purposes. A reminder that physical distancing of one adult per two square metres and good hygiene practices still apply. We ask that parents drop off and/or pick up children and move along promptly. Additionally, playground equipment is not to be used before or after school. As soon as Phase 5 is introduced, we can’t wait to reintroduce parent helpers into classrooms and return to normal operations. A friendly reminder to parents to continue to enhance the fantastic independence that your child has developed over the year.
Due to the current health advice and the physical distancing requirements with adults, we have had to cancel all general assemblies for the remainder of the year. On a fortnightly basis, staff and students will be engaged in mini assemblies to bring the school together for important messages and to build upon skills, knowledge and understandings of our positive education policy.
We would still love to be able to run some of our regular events such as Faction Carnival and Cross Country this term, however this will depend on the current health advice at the time. We have rescheduled some of the events until later in the term in the hope that we are in Phase 5. If not, the format of these events may have to be adjusted or cancelled if they are not manageable, given the physical distancing restrictions at the time.
Tentative Term 3 events are as follows:
Jumps and Throws: Tues 8 Sept (Back up 9 Sept)
Faction Carnival: Thurs 10 Sept (Back up 14 Sept)
Cross Country: Fri 25 September (Back up 14 Oct)
Ern Halliday Yr 6 Student Leader’s Camp: Mon 22 Sept
We are also hoping to be able to run Open Night on Wednesday 23rd September, however, this will only be able to be managed if we are in Phase 5. We will make the decision about if this event is going forward during week 8.
Have a lovely weekend

Welcome back to Term 3!
I hope everyone had a relaxing and refreshing break. I would like to take this moment to share some tips with you on how you can help your child have good emotional health. An emotionally healthy child is happy, most of the time, and wants to learn, grow and make friends; you can help your child achieve this by:
- Understanding your Child’s Needs
Children need love, acceptance and security - Encouraging Independence
Trust in your child’s abilities. Encourage self-help skills such as feeding and dressing themselves. Give them freedom to grow and make mistakes. - Giving Discipline and Guidance
Be consistent and set fair limits. Teach by example and discuss your values and beliefs - Showing your Interest
Talk to your child about their experiences at school and keep in regular contact with their teacher. Avoid outing pressure on your child to achieve. - Relaxing Together
Make time for family activities you can enjoy together. Plan a “quiet time”. Turn off the TV. Spend the time reading, writing or daydreaming
