School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
I would like to thank all parents and caregivers for their support in these uncertain times. As parents would be aware, we have been informed that the State Government will review the current situation for schools during Week 3 and then make a decision about how schools will operate. We will notify you of this decision when it comes to light.
The number of students at school has gradually increased this term and we currently have just under 80% of students in attendance. At the beginning of the term we appointed an additional cleaner to our team whereby we not only have a team of cleaners that work before and after school, we also have a cleaner working throughout the day to clean toilets, playgrounds and high contact areas to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness at our school. We also have sanitisers for students to use in each classroom. Staff are reminding students regularly to wash their hands with soap for a minimum of 20 secs or 2 rounds of singing a song/poem. Additionally, whilst students are eating lunch we have split the students into different areas to provide greater social distancing. At other time’s, where possible, we are trying our best to encourage social distancing.
Next week, we are expecting around 90% attendance at school. For students working from home, this will mostly be working from a work package with some working from an online platform or both.
I would like to thank the staff for their hard work and professionalism throughout this pandemic, which has resulted in alterations to be made to their planning and teaching. I would also like to thank all parents and caregivers for their support in remaining physically distanced when dropping and picking up their children. Additionally, thank you to parents for directing their questions to their teacher’s email addresses rather than coming to school in these unprecedented times. We really appreciate your support.
School Board
Madeley PS would like to welcome Ms Katie Cawthorne (Education Assistant) and Mr Matthew White (Kindy Parent) to our School Board for the next three years. We would like to sincerely thank Ms Karin Villemin (Education Assistant) and Mr Mark Paulton (Parent) for their commitment and contribution to the Madeley PS over the last three years.
School Review
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, our School Review that was scheduled for the end of this term has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled when the pandemic is over.
State Government Funding
We were so please to receive funding at the end of last year to spend on maintenance and upgrade items around the school, to assist in stimulating the economy at the time also. In the short timeline we had, we are very pleased to say that we have used the money on repainting and maintenance, this was completed over the summer holidays along with a big fan for the undercover area as well as a shade sail for the playground next to the vegie patch. We are delighted that we were able to have this funding from the State Government.
A very big thank you for your support and consideration as we navigate these times together.
Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe,
Lainie Beccegato
Principal

Scholastic Book Club
Dear Parents and Care Givers,
Scholastic is running Book Club differently this term.
You can go online to look at the catalogue, it is linked to your ‘Loop’ Account. There will be 50 books for $5 or less online.
Scholastic will do their best to have the books arrive in a timely manner but unfortunately Australia Post are under a lot of pressure at the moment.
An important date is 18th May, as I will close the orders off that afternoon.
Kind regards

School Chaplain
Hello Everyone!
I just want to give you some tips and ideas of activities you can do with your kids.
These activities can range from colouring to building forts, from playing board games to baking. They do not have to be costly or complicated; all you need is the things around your home. Make new food creations with your children or have a movie marathon with popcorn, go camping in your backyard.
