Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
We wish our students a very safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing them all back at school for our final term on 12 October.
Athletics Carnivals:
Our school carnival and interschool carnival were all a great success thanks to the planning and organisation of Mr Moon. We thank him and all our staff for their work in preparing our students to compete. We also thank our P&C for their support of these events through the provision of lunches and refreshments. This year was the first time that our cluster primary schools competed against each other and the event was held here at Madeley. While we finished third our students did their very best and had a lot of fun.
WAGSMS Concert:
Miss Foulds has been working with our school choir in preparation for this week's Western Australian Government Schools Music Society concert at Crown Perth which was held on Tuesday night. Our students were a wonderful success and our thanks go to Miss Foulds for her work. We also thank Miss Foulds' mum who assisted on the night.
Term 4:
Next term is looking like being another busy one with lots of exciting activities planned including:
- Year 6 camp
- Zoo Camp
- Remembrance Day Assembly
- Year 6 Cluster Carnival
- End of year excursions and parties
- Year 6 Graduation
- Awards Assembly
School Watch:
We rely on our local community to keep a watchful eye on our school outside of school hours, on weekends and over holiday periods. If you notice something that looks suspicious please contact Education Security on 92644632 or the Police on 131444.

Choir Performance
On Monday the 21st of September the Madeley Senior Choir performed at the Western Australian Government Schools Music Society, which was held at the Crown Theatre. The event is a showcase of the many talented students involved in Music programs throughout schools in Western Australia. The Madeley choir students worked extremely hard to perfect their two items 'Lanterns' by Birds of Tokyo and John Butler's 'Better Than'.
I am extremely proud of the amazing performance the students put on. They were confident, well rehearsed and very professional. We had many comments from other schools about the students' fantastic performance and great behaviour on the night. They truly did a great job representing Madeley.
Thanks to all the parents involved, your support is greatly appreciated.

Interschool Athletics Carnival
For the first time in our short history we competed against Ashdale and Landsdale in the Interschool Athletics. I was very proud of our team. We displayed fantastic sportsmanship and everyone pursued their personal best. I was particularly pleased with the way our teams worked together to achieve their goals. Thank you again to all the Madeley staff, parents and P&C for making the carnival a success.

After School Language Learning Program for Kindergarten to Year 12 Children
The Western Australian Government through the Office of Multicultural Interests has redeveloped the Community Languages Program to promote the benefits of learning and maintaining additional languages. The Program provides opportunity for all Kindergarten to Year 12 students to learn a new language. The Macedonian Community Language School is working with schools to deliver after-school beginner level Macedonian language classes in 2016 for multi-age, multi-ability students.
Why should my child learn an additional language?
- Access to two languages from an early age facilitates literacy development. It greatly benefits their reading and writing skills and contributes to their ability to think and learn. There is a strong link between learning another language and literacy development in English.
- ATAR bonus incentive encouraging high standards of student achievement. Year 12 students completing a second language automatically receive bonus points for entry to University.
- Develop a broader view of the world providing opportunity to experience other cultures.
- Social connections for children to make friends and enjoy learning.
Where will the classes be held?
It is proposed to hold the classes at Balcatta House, 334 Albert Street, Balcatta.
Download the attached flyer and Expression of Interest form for further information or visit www.macedoniawa.com.au. Further enquiries can be made by contacting the Macedonian Community Language School on 9328 7852.
All are welcome and a background in Macedonian language is not essential.
