School Vision
Madeley Primary School will nurture and promote life-long learners within a positive school community where respect is valued and independence and excellence are expected. |
From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
2017 In Review
At our last School Board meeting members of the Board participated in a review of the year. This review highlighted many positives which included:
- Success of the external School Review
- Improved communication across the school
- Receiving multiple nominations for School Board positions
- The positive impact that the Play Is The Way program (Positive Education) is beginning to have in the school
- Strong community involvement – this has grown
- Strength of the P&C and the increase in parent involvement in this group
- Improvement in grounds maintenance
- Success of Open Nights
- Fathering Project activities
- Involvement of pre-service teachers in our school
- Evolution of the School Board – it is functioning more effectively now
- Teacher collaboration across the school
- The success of the Play and Learn program
We are encouraged by these positives and will continue striving to provide the best possible learning environment for the Madeley community as we move into 2017 and beyond.
School Security
Parents and community members are asked to keep a watchful eye on our school over the summer break. We have had reports of children and teenagers climbing on the roof and using the basketball courts inappropriately after school and on weekends. This is not only dangerous but can lead to damage to school property. If you witness something that looks suspicious we ask that you immediately contact Education Security on 92644632 or 92644771 or the police on 131444.
Goodbyes and Welcome
I would like to recognise again the staff who will be leaving us next year. This will include Mrs Campione, Mrs Hawes, Mrs O’Kane, Miss Pullella, Mrs Truda and Mrs Eddison. We thank them for the excellent work that they have done at our school and wish them all the best for the future. In 2017 we will welcome Mrs Wheeler who will be running a support program, Mrs Crow who is our new School Psychologist and Mrs Thomas who is our new Chaplain.
Happy Holidays
I wish all of our staff, students and their families a safe and joyous Christmas and a very successful New Year. It has been a blessing to be part of such a vibrant school community and I look forward to working with you all again in 2017.

Music
What a great year this has been! The past couple of weeks have been extra-busy in the Music department with the Choir Christmas Excursion, the Landsdale Farm School Carols Night and Madeley’s Got Talent.
Choir
Our school choir represented Madeley Primary well on their Excursion last Tuesday 6th Dec. They sang to the residents, staff and guests of Aegis Woodlake Aged Care in Kingsley, then at Kingsway City Shopping Centre and finally, lunched at McDonalds. It was a fun day and there were smiles all round as we spread some Christmas cheer.
Wednesday night was the Landsdale Farm School Carols Night. There was a good turnout from the community and our choir kicked off the performances with several Christmas favourites. Thanks to the parents for bringing your children and staying the evening.
Our performances were enhanced by the efforts of a number of people. Thanks to all our soloists and to Jordan Rabbone for his special item. Thanks to Monique Cornall for adding some beautiful flute highlights to our carols. Thanks to Mr Bevan for being a good roadie.
We would also like to thank Elise Campione for giving up her time to support our school through her musical talents. Elise provided musical (piano) accompaniment to our choir at their excursion and at the Landsdale Carols performance. She also accompanied the school for their item at the Graduation ceremony this week. Elise is available for music tuition or accompaniment.
Madeley’s Got Talent
There was much anticipation and excitement in the school last Thursday 8th December as we prepared for the Madeley’s Got Talent Final! After 13 auditions over 3 weeks, to see 53 acts involving 94 students, 15 Finalists were selected to perform to the school community and family members! We had a wonderful array of acts and ages. Although the event was more about showcasing some of our talented students, we did have a panel of judges who gave points for technique, choreography, audience appeal and presentation.
The results were-
1st place: Jordan Rabbone – Yr
6 (sang and played and original song)
2nd place: Isabelle Edmonds – Yr 3
(dancing)
Equal 3rd place: Sienna, Ella, Aleeyah, Zalia &
Jessica – Yr 4 (singing)
Equal 3rd place: Lorelei Santos and Riley
Leatherbarrow – Yr 6 (dancing)
I wish to thank some special people who helped put Madeley’s Got Talent 2016 together. Firstly, to our Arts Captains Tyler Dold and Jade Moraru, and our Talent Search Team – Ella Buckland, Shaamilah Zakaria and Tegan Lipari... Thanks for all your work and organisation. It was fun!
Thanks to our judging panel Tyler, Jade, Mr Bevan, Ms Horrocks and Mrs Dold.
Thanks to the students who assisted with the sound and technical needs – Thomas Apoleski, Che Haylan, Joban Singh and Ezra Galley.
And a huge thanks to Mrs Kate Blower who saved the day when the technical gremlins arrived, and was in charge of the sound for the Final. I was so grateful for your help!
Farewell
Thanks for the kind words and wishes from parents, students and staff. I have thoroughly enjoyed this year at Madeley PS and hope our paths cross again in the future. Merry Christmas!
Mrs Campione
